Oversees the sanitation activities of the facility. Maintains the plant and equipment clean on a regular and scheduled basis in accordance with established SOP’s and cGMP standards. The Sanitation team lead also functions as a sanitation worker and trains and monitors the use appropriate cleaning methods to clean all equipment and utensils (i.e., pails, containers, machine parts), and may include fixtures such as roofs, fans, ceilings, walls and floors. Ensures that the Sanitation team are appropriately trained and following established SOP’s.



Summary/Objective:
Oversees the sanitation activities of the facility. Maintains the plant and equipment clean on a regular and scheduled basis in accordance with established SOP’s and cGMP standards.  The Sanitation team lead also functions as a sanitation worker and trains and monitors the use appropriate cleaning methods to clean all equipment and utensils (i.e., pails, containers, machine parts), and may include fixtures such as roofs, fans, ceilings, walls and floors. Ensures that the Sanitation team are appropriately trained and following established SOP’s.
 
Essential Functions:
  • Monitors the work of other sanitation workers, trains and coaches on established procedures.
  • Functions as a sanitation team worker and assists others in the course of their duties to ensure best cleaning practices are followed in the GMP environment.
  • Removal of waste products/materials from daily operations
  • Emptying of trash cans throughout the day to ensure clean work environment
  • Prepping of workstations with operating supplies needed for the shift
  • Additional tasks as needed to assist the operations function
  • Maintain cleaning supplies and submit orders when replacements or refills are needed
  • Cleans various plants and office spaces as required per cGMP standards
  • Conducts in-process verification checks – Follows a daily worksheet.
  • Documents daily and non-daily tasks
  • Dissemble equipment, organize parts for cleaning, rinse down equipment, foam, rinse equipment, and sanitize.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of the office, laboratory restrooms, hallways, cafeterias, conference rooms
  • Sweep, mop, strip, wax, and buff floors throughout the plant
  • Clean/dust air conditioning vent covers in all office areas, cafeteria, and restrooms
  • Operate trash compactor
  • Operate floor buffer
  • Operate cardboard baler
  • Clean windows, doors, ledges, baseboards, floor- wall junctions
  • Established a master cleaning schedule, and provides adequate coverage in needed areas.
  • Assists Sanitation Supervisor and leads with other sanitation and clean-up tasks as required
 
Required Experience & Skills: 
  • High school diploma or equivalent education degree (GED) plus related experience and /or training.
  • Previous sanitation work experience in a manufacturing/production environment
  • Good level of interpersonal skills required to effectively interact with others
  • General knowledge and understanding of sanitation and cleaning functions
  • Experience in use of various cleaning chemicals
  • Following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

Supervisory Responsibility:
Assists with the supervision of other sanitation workers. Coaches and provides support wherever and whenever needed.
 
Work Environment:
Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions in the plant. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
 
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear.  The employee might regularly lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.  No specific vision requirements.
